OUR BRAČ
Brač is the third biggest, and – with its peak
at 780 m – the highest island in the Adriatic sea.
The inland of the island is rocky, and covered with fragrant black pine forests and other aromatic vegetation.
Because of its exceptionally fertile soil hidden beneath the layers of limestone, Brač is considered to have one of the most valued sorts of grapes and olives in the world. The specific aromatic vegetation that sheep and lamb graze on creates a very specific ‘Brač flavour’ of the local meat and cheese products.
The islands' long history of various cultural influences –from the Palaeolithic to Illyrians and Greeks, Venetians and Slavs – is very well preserved within the layers of its rich cultural heritage.

OUR EXCURSIONS
Brač Off-Road Adventure is a small,
family-owned tourist agency founded
in 2016.
Our excursions are a unique combination of adventurous and exciting, yet safe and comfortable rides in Pinzgauer off-road vehicles. Our tours are suitable for all age groups – from young children to the elderly.
The off-road terrains of the islands’ inland, whether gravel paths, impervious black pine forests or vast pastures, are surrounded by the unspoiled nature of the interior of the island that is hard to reach.
Our powerful vehicles make it possible to easily pass through these difficult terrains and show you the unique beauties of natural and cultural heritage of the island – from up close!

DESTINATIONS BRAČ

BOAT TUNNEL
Smrka – one of the most beautiful, turquoise coves on Brač, used to be a forbidden territory because the built-in tunnel was used as a WWII bunker for Yugoslav army ships, submarines and other radar equipment.
Today, the cove is mostly used as a tuna farm, and the tunnel is a docking spot for various fishermen, especially during fishing season.
This destination is included in:
THE TUNNEL USED TO BE CONCEALED WITH A ROCK IMITATION, WHICH MADE IT INVISIBLE FROM AIR AND SEA
DONJI HUMAC QUARRY
Brač island history and architecture is intrinsically connected to its core building component – the Brač limestone.
Throughout the past, because of its exquisite quality, habitants used it as a building block for houses, monasteries and churches, but also processed and exploited it for centuries for international exporting.
The limestone is still actively being gathered and processed on Brač at several quarries scattered across the island, with the most prominent one being in Donji Humac.
This destination is included in:

BRAČ LIMESTONE

ST. PETER AND PAUL CHURCH
St. Peter and Paul church, built in 1413., in the centre of Nerežišća, is a beautiful example of a typical limestone architecture.
This tiny and sweet church was a union church, which meant mostly marriages were performed there.
Even though it’s a significant historic landmark, what takes its spotlight is a single black pine growing out of its - roof!
There are assumptions as to the age of the pine, however no one seems to be certain of how it got there nor how it sustained throughout the assumed 120-200 years of its life.
This destination is included in:
THE SMALL PINE TREE ATOP THE CHURCH IS POPULARLY NAMED – THE BRAČ BONSAI
STINA VINEYARD
The island of Brač is covered with hard limestone surface. It requires a lot of work to get to its rich soil at deeper levels.
This process is even more difficult when it comes to wine growing, owed to steep slopes where vineyards are located. Due to their high altitude, these slopes are exposed to lots of sunshine and extreme day-to-night temperature differences, which creates ideal conditions for the cultivation of high quality grapes and wines.
During our tour we will be passing by the largest vineyard on the island – Stina Vineyard, known for the world-famous grape variety – plavac mali.
This destination is included in:

PLAVAC MALI IS THE MOST ESTEEMED AUTOCHTHONOUS CROATIAN RED WINE SORT

ST. SPIRIT CHURCH
The 14th century Church of St. Spirit represents a meeting point of two very different cultures – as it is a catholic church built upon Old Slavic ruins.
The stones found in the ruins were used to build the church and the dry stone walling surrounding it.

DRYWALL BUILDING WAS INSCRIBED ON THE UNESCO LIST OF INTANGIBLE HERITAGE OF CROATIA IN 2018.
CROWN OF BOL
The Crown of Bol is located just beneath the top of Vidova gora, spreading out like a mountain range above Bol. It provides a beautiful panoramic view of Bol and the famous Zlatni rat beach.

TROLOKVE
Trolokve is a rare natural phenomenon that got its name from 3 puddles where rain water is being collected.
The puddles became a drinking spot for livestock; mostly herds of sheep and some horses that come from the nearby woods early in the morning or later in the afternoon when the heat subsides.

VIDOVA GORA
Vidova gora (778 m) is the highest point of the island Brač, as well as all the Adriatic islands. It is therefore referred to as the ‘Roof of the Adriatic’.
The panoramic view from this peak provides for one of the most breathtaking experiences that the island has to offer.
From up there you can clearly see Zlatni rat beach, the city of Bol, the neighbouring island of Hvar, the more distant ones such as Korčula and Vis, and even the most remote Croatian island – Jabuka.
The gorgeous surrounding Adriatic sea calls for a perfect photo opportunity or a selfie.

GAŽUL FAMILY FARM
200 years ago four brothers decided to build a small housing estate out of local limestone, a safe place to stay while the cattle were grazing during colder winter time.
Over time these dwellings were abandoned due to new settlements in more moderate climate. However, 20 years ago, descendants of the same family decided to revive the estate, turning it into a rural household whose policy is to use only local, fresh and organically grown products.
Therefore, they can serve you delicious lamb, prosciutto, cheese, vegetables, wine, juices, home-made brandy and jam.

ZLATNI RAT BEACH
Zlatni rat beach (Golden Horn) is known as one of the most beautiful beaches, not only in Croatia, but the world.
The beach is composed of smooth, white tiny pebbles and has a distinctive elongated shape that stretches out 600 m into the sea. The shape of the beach and its length vary with regards to changes in tide, current and strong winds.
If hot pebbles seem too much, you can safely relax in cooler parts of the nearby forest shade.

BLACA MONASTERY IS HOME OF THE BIGGEST TELESCOPE IN SOUTHEAST EUROPE
BLACA MONASTERY /
MUSEUM
The Monastery was established in the 16th century by priests who found shelter in a cave after fleeing from the Ottoman army. Inhabitants gradually started adding stones to it, and subsequently turned it into a monastery.
The Monastery never belonged to any particular religion, rather it was a gathering place and a shelter for hermits who worked hard and managed to develop the business of growing olives and grapes to such a high standard, that it became known worldwide.
In 1963 the monastery was turned into a museum in which interesting remnants of history can be found, bearing witness to the work and life of its inhabitants throughout centuries.
